Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive PreK-12 independent school that has been serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs since 1878. ECFS offers a rich curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A co-ed, nonsectarian school, it serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students on two campuses -- one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, and the other in Manhattan.
The Fieldston Middle School 6-8 program provides outstanding academics to 380 students while cultivating identity through an emphasis on social, emotional and physical health. The guiding concept of Fieldston Middle School is “the culture of consideration,” which we use to guide us in our behavior, decision-making, and planning. Culture of consideration defines the way we treat each other, the way we treat our environment, and the way we treat our responsibilities as students, teachers and community members.
Fieldston Middle is seeking experienced classroom teachers available on an on-call basis to serve as substitute teachers for 6-8 core classes as well as enrichment classes in: physical education, music, ethics and arts. The ideal candidates will have strong classroom management skills, familiarity with hands-on teaching practices, relevant experience with middle school students, and the ability to teach multiple academic subjects. Fieldston Middle School is seeking personable and enthusiastic professionals who are inspired by working closely with adolescents.
Substitutes are needed for half day, full day, and extended subbing schedules throughout the school year. We provide substitute teachers with as much advance notice as possible, a lesson plan from the classroom teacher, administrative support, and competitive compensation.
