Job Overview:
The Private Pay Account Representative is responsible for all cash accounts in excess of twenty five dollars. The Private Pay Account Representative will follow up with patients whom are making regular monthly payments to ensure that payments are made as scheduled. Utilizes aging reports to monitor each patient account and resolves barriers to ensure timely and correct payments are received. Reviews accounts to ensure AB774 adjustments are correctly posted to accounts. The Private Pay Account Representative maintains proper follow-up on all cash accounts using the collection guidelines and department policy and procedures.

Responsibilities:
- Follows up with patients to establish a payment plan for outstanding accounts
- Regularly monitors and follow-ups on established monthly payments
- Contacts patients to verify/update mailing address, verify health insurance and verifies benefits with said insurance company
- Monitors all flat rate accounts for proper adjustments
- Accurately utilizes the appropriate activity, status codes, financial class and insurance codes ensuring that all accounts are under the correct financial class
- Document patient telephone calls in CPSI
- Accurately and timely performs review and follow-up with patients monthly
- Handles aging accounts and assigns to bad debt collector by updating the bill switch and collection code for review by the DPS.
- Applies job knowledge to solve difficult patient accounts
- Complete patient liability report daily
- Update MedAssets with patient liability
- Productivity per day is 100 accounts.
- Follows-up with patients with liability under $500 in a timely manner.
- Follows up with patient liability after insurance payment accounts monthly
- Respond to voice mail and emails within 24 hours.
- Maintains individual excel worksheet in collector share drive.
- Attends department specific education/training, in-service, and staff meetings
- Follows Ethos Management procedures for account management protocol
- Abides by Ethos Management’s Inc. Code of Conduct and HIPAA compliance standards
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills & knowledge requirements:
- Associate’s degree and/or equivalent experience (3-5 years) preferred
- experience or patient financial counselor
- Understanding of managed care payor contracts and contract language
- Medical and insurance terminology essential
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel applications
- Must demonstrate excellent communication skills while dealing with confidential financial matters

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
