We are recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Technician-CRO. This position will primarily be responsible for coordination of all on shift operations. These responsibilities include the safe operation of all plant equipment throughout a variety of operational scenarios from cold plant startup to emergency operations during plant upsets. This is a Control Room Operator (CRO) position and will require excellent troubleshooting, diagnosis and decision making and leadership skills. This position will require a good working experience with the use of Distributive Control System (DCS) computers to operate plant equipment and for monitoring of equipment to measure, record and make adjustments within operating parameters. Incumbent should have a good working knowledge of PC computers using Microsoft Office products and WAS for issuing of Lockout Tagouts. Incumbents will also assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and provide input to plant improvement items to improve plant efficiency, reliability and safety. Must have knowledge to perform chemical analysis and chemical control on steam, cooling and condensate systems, and maintains chemistry logs. Ensures compliance with all local, State and Federal regulations and plant procedures. Regularly required to maintain plant security, operate heavy equipment such as manlifts and forklifts, and handle and transfer bulk chemicals.

- Complete all assigned work in a safe and timely manner. Safe and efficient operation of the facility. Perform facility start-up and shutdown in accordance with established procedures Complete all required training on time. Ensure Environmental compliance (Air and Water) Analyze and report operating irregularities, correcting them whenever possible Maintain facility availability Maintain facility cleanliness and equipment Daily interaction with Direct Energy Prepare permits for work as needed Write high voltage switching orders in accordance with prudent utility practices Perform high voltage switching as required Enforce all safe work practices utilizing SMS/OSHA/MSHA/LOTO/PFW Perform contractor safety indoctrinations Update all safety logs Enter & Complete work orders and PM’s as assigned utilizing the CMMS Develop and implement operating policies and procedures Periodic interaction with PJM dispatch personnel and Spectra Energy site technician Coordinate operations and maintenance activities on a daily basis Interface with contractors and vendors Maintain accurate log of all station activities Develop and implement operating policies and procedures Direct and / or assist plant technicians and other personnel in the performance of their duties along with supporting the training and development of the plant technicians Abide by all Ironwood Health and Safety program rules and requirements. - Regularly provides on-the-job skills training to others in complex technical areas.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity and mathematics.
- Advanced certifications/licensures
- 3-5 years power plant operations experience or equivalent directly related experience including understanding of health and safety regulations, NERC/PJM rules and environmental permits.
- Performs a variety of complex technical service/support duties requiring specialized knowledge.
- Must successfully pass the EEI (Edison Electric Institute) POSS B exam High school or equivalent minimum Post-secondary industrial related Associates Degree or Trade School is preferred 3-5 years power plant operations experience or equivalent Must be dependable, self motivated and capable of working with limited supervision Excellent communication skills Able to work overtime as needed to support plant operations and maintenance Able to work a 12 hour rotating shift schedule including week-ends, holidays & call outs Ability to cross train in all areas of the plant and attend off site training as assigned by operations manager Ability to complete all assigned work in a safe and efficient manner in all types of adverse weather conditions, including but not limited to, extreme heat Capable of performing moderate outdoor manual labor including but not limited to climbing stairs and lifting up to 70lbs. Ability to safely operate all types of power, hand tools and various types of mobile equipment Able to climb ladders of various sizes and work at elevated heights Experience operating various types of mobile equipment ie: high lift, fork lift
