- Reading blueprints: Welders study and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to understand the project requirements
- Measuring and calculating: Welders calculate and measure the dimensions of parts to be welded
- Inspecting: Welders inspect materials and structures to be welded for quality
- Setting up: Welders set up components for welding, such as cutting material to match measurements
- Welding: Welders use power supplies and torches to weld materials together in various positions
- Monitoring: Welders monitor the welding process and adjust heat as needed
- Maintaining: Welders maintain and use specialized welding equipment and machinery
- Repairing: Welders repair holes, indentations, and seams in metal products
- Following safety regulations: Welders follow strict safety regulations and are alert to ensure safety
- Experience in welding or fabrication
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, including welding diagrams and symbols
- Ability to use hand tools
- Understanding of fabrication processes
- Knowledge of and adherence with safety standards
