Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. The Accounting Assistant will perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, administrative, and financial tasks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, accounts payable and receivable accounts, invoicing clients, developing and maintaining a comprehensive financial filing system, and has a keen eye for detail. Duties
o Manage Accounts Payable
- Pay supplier invoices in a timely manner
- Pay any debt as it comes due for payment
- Track and monitor payables on a weekly basis
o Manage Accounts Receivable
- Issue invoices to customers
- Ensure that all receivables are collected promptly
- Collect sales taxes from customer and remit to the government
- Record cash receipts and make bank deposits
o Maintain Internal Records
- Maintain chart of accounts
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
- Conduct monthly reconciliation of bank accounts
- Conduct periodic reconciliation of all accounts
- Maintain the petty cash fund
- Maintain Fixed Asset Ledgers
o Financial Reporting
- Assemble information for external auditors
- Intercompany expense allocation
o Planning
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
o Compliance
- Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements
- Assemble information for external filing requirements
o Administrative Tasks
- Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested
- Assist in assembling information for internal and external filing requirements
- Follow accounting policies and procedures
- Scan & File documentation electronically, such as invoices and incoming mail
Qualifications
- Associates degree in Accounting preferred;
- May have at least 5 years of work experience in an accounting role in lieu of education
- Proven ability for high attention to details and accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
- Experience with ERP or other accounting software
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
