Score Coordinator
Reports to: NMTC Artistic Director, Literary Manager
Department: Literary
Compensation: $550/week stipend, housing, meals

Job Description
The Score Coordinator will oversee score and score revision distribution for the three new musicals developed during 2023 National Music Theater Conference. They will supervise the work of Music Assistants and ensure that all score changes are executed and distributed correctly to show personnel. They will work closely with the Artistic Director, Literary Manager, and other NMTC artists to standardize score formatting, distribution, and revision processes across the institution. Responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the work of Music Assistants for each workshop
- Participating in the selection and hiring of Music Assistants for the conference
- Reviewing and updating the existing NMTC Music Assistant Manual
- Orienting Music Assistants upon their arrival, collaborating on the creation of score distribution sheet, training in office operations and serving as their primary resource for music related questions
- Collaborating with Script Coordinator to codify best practices for book and score revision printing and distribution prior to rehearsals.
- Regularly checking in with Music Assistants, observing their work and offering assistance when needed.
- Serving as point-person for solving and troubleshooting music software questions
- Assisting with additional music formatting and entry as needed
- Attending production meetings and creative team orientations for each musical
- Attending NMTC rehearsals and presentations as needed or requested.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has a passion for musical theater and extensive experience as Music Assistant on new works in development. Leadership experience and interest in mentorship is a must. Must be highly proficient in Finale and Sibelius and have compositional piano skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and meticulous attention to detail required.

Music Assistant

Job Description
Music Assistants will provide direct support to the developmental workshop of a new musical during the National Music Theater Conference. Music Assistants will work closely with top-tier composers and music directors to track, implement, and distribute all score and lyric changes to the company and creative team. Candidates must be highly proficient in Finale and/or Sibelius and have compositional piano skills. Responsibilities include:
- Attend all workshop rehearsals (typically Tuesdays - Sundays 10am - 6pm but subject to change at the discretion of the Music Director).
- Work closely with the Composer and Music Director to track, implement, communicate score changes, and assist them as needed.
- Print and distribute score updates, lyric changes, band charts, and sheet music to the company.
- Work closely with the Script Assistant to track and communicate lyric changes to the company and ensure book/score continuity
- Create a score revision distribution spreadsheet in collaboration with the Score Coordinator and Script Assistant prior to the workshop.
- Work closely with the Script Assistant before the workshop to identify book/score discrepancies; communicating those discrepancies to the Composer; updating the score as needed before rehearsals begin.
- Attend the public performances
