General Description of Responsibilities:
The Pediatric Clinical Assistant position is a part-time, seasonal position that assists program participants with medical needs care during summer camp programs. The incumbents will be responsible for following proper medical care practices for children in preschool through 12th grade on-site during summer camp programs. Common medical needs for children include allergic reactions, asthma, and daily medications. Uncommon higher needs children include type-1 diabetes and epilepsy. This position will be responsible for keeping track of the medical needs of program participants week to week and following appropriate care plans. Incumbents will work alongside the Lead Pediatric Clinical Assistant and have access to EUREKA!'s Child Care Health Consultant as a resource throughout the summer. This position requires a strong leader who is passionate about health and science education, has a desire to work with youth, and who can provide meaningful, fun learning experiences to program participants.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work with the Child Care Health Consultant to create medical care plans for higher medical needs participants
- Provide care as needed for sick/injured participants when necessary
- Follow proper procedures to administer medication as needed
- Properly record all medical care administered
- Communicate with administrative staff and parents regarding medical needs of program participants
- Additional duties as assigned such as basic administrative duties at Front Desk.
Requirements:
- LPN or CNA Certification or Degree
- Successful outcomes on a criminal background check FBI, CBI, and TRAILS
- Knowledge of Mesa County Child Care License health and safety regulations
- 1 working with youth in a professional capacity
- Ability to bend, stoop, and be on feet for extended periods of time
- Adaptability to a fast-paced environment
- Documentation of COVID-19 immunizations
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in pediatric, emergency, or school nursing is highly preferred
- Organizational skills for keeping medical records and supplies in order
- Experience with Google Suite
Licenses, Certificates or Equipment Required:
- CPR, First Aid, AED training required prior to employment.
- Additional required training sessions with the Child Care Health Consultant based on program participant needs
Additional Information:
Wages are dependent on the applicant's qualifications. Pediatric Clinical Assistant position starts at $18.00/hour. This position is seasonal starting no later than May 22, 2025 and ending August 06, 2025. Opportunities for part time employment after the position ends are available.
