What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor (Inclusion) position at Eureka Parks and Recreation Department?
General Purpose
The Inclusive Camp Counselor is responsible for ensuring our inclusive campers, those with special needs and disabilities, can participate in a full summer camp experience.
Supervision Received
Works under the general supervision Camp Director, the Director of Parks and Recreation and other City supervisory staff, as directed.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations
Ensures safety of campers and keeps constant watch on campers locations.
Travel with camp on field trips and ensure safety and supervision of campers.
Answer any questions parents may have about their child, be able to explain incidents to parents.
Be familiar with IEP and other programs that inclusive kids may require.
Aids in planning and implementing weekly camp games, activities, and crafts.
Performs proper opening and closing procedures.
Checks children in and out.
Assists other staff in completing various work projects as workload allows.
Knowledgeable of emergency procedures. Handles any emergency situation in a calm and professional manner.
Completes any necessary paperwork such as accident/incident reports and inventory.
Prevents accidents and allows for the enjoyment of all patrons through the fair and consistent enforcement of policies and rules governing the conduct of individuals.
Cooperatively works with other staff to ensure a professional and enjoyable work environment.
Arrive to work on time and when scheduled.
Performs other duties as requested or required.
Desired Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Ability to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings.
Ability to understand, carry out and give oral and written instructions and follow posted schedules.
Ability to work with minimal daily supervision.
Ability to learn and follow City policies.
Ability to perform child and adult CPR and first aid.
