Job Description
We are seeking an eager and communicative Scientist to support downstream process development for biopharmaceutical manufacturing. This role involves performing and developing chromatographic and electrophoretic assays, conducting sample testing, analyzing data, and reporting results to drive process optimization.
Daily Responsibilities could Include:
- Support downstream process teams in developing and characterizing downstream processes for biopharmaceutical manufacturing (e.g., monoclonal antibodies and other proteins).
- Utilize, perform, and assist in developing chromatographic and electrophoretic assays for in-process sample testing.
- Characterize samples and prepare them for further analysis
- Record results and write characterization reports
- Data analysis and data summarization
- Perform data verification on regulatory documents
- Report results and provide insights to support process development.
Qualifications
The Ideal Candidate will Have:
- Good understanding of chromatography, protein purification, and various assays (pH, density, Appearance)
- Ability to make detailed observations, analyze data, interpret results, and exercise appropriate technical discretion in the execution of experiments
- Knowledge of basic protein chemistry; protein and analytical chemistry
- Knowledge and experience with protein purification
- Experience with HPLC, AKTA, Unicorn, and column packing
- Experience with cell culture or bioreactor experience is a plus
Minimum Qualifications:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work within a team and also in cross-functional setting
- Good time management and multi-tasking skills
- Basic computer skills and routine use of Microsoft Office and Outlook
- B.S./M.S. degree with 0-2 years of experience

The position is full-time, Monday-Friday from 8 am-5 pm. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Gaithersburg, Maryland and the surrounding areas are encouraged to apply.
