What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hotel Front Desk Clerk position at Evangeline Downs Hotel?
We are looking for both part time and full time front desk clerks. All shifts available. Must be flexible.
Job Summary
The front desk clerk’s main responsibility is to ensure guest satisfaction. The front desk clerk is also responsible for maximizing room revenues, in line with Venerts Hotel Management Inc.’s standards, by providing efficient and courteous front desk service.

Essential Functions
1. Assist all guests in a sincere and courteous manner, whenever possible going the extra mile and doing whatever it takes to ensure guest satisfaction.
2. Registers and processes guests promptly upon arrival and departure.
3. Performs all guest accounting functions according to established hotel operating procedures to ensure all guest and house accounts are complete and accurate.
4. Demonstrates a working knowledge of all services and facilities of the hotel, as well as the local area, and effectively assists guests.
5. Adheres to all established credit and inventory control procedures to minimize exposure to loss of revenue.
6. Demonstrates the use of sales techniques to effectively sell the property, maximizing occupancy and average rate.
7. Receives and processes telephone and walk-in reservations accurately to ensure guest satisfaction.
8. Professionally and competently operates the telephone system according to Venerts Hotel Management Inc.’s standards.
9. Acts as manager on duty in the absence of the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
10. Understands and applies all hotel safety and security procedures to maintain a secure and safe environment for employees and guests.
11. Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to his/her attention so prompt corrective action can be taken.
12. Perform other duties as requested or required.
Qualification Standards
1. Minimum of High School education or equivalent. Previous customer related office experience helpful.
2. Ability to quickly learn front desk technical procedures such as: check-in, check-out, selling skills, computer operation, telephone operations, etc.
3. Ability to operate computer or cash register to handle monetary transactions and give correct change.
4. Ability to work well on multiple tasks at the same time.
5. Ability to be friendly and cheerful; interact easily with strangers.
6. Ability to cooperate with and support others.
7. Ability to observe, react quickly and adjust to different guest situations.
8. Ability to cope with stress, showing self-control during excitement.
9. Ability for strong organizational skills and strong detail orientation.
10. Ability to operate equipment such as: cash register, computer, credit card machines, telephone console/switchboard, and calculator.
11. Grooming must meet property standards.
12. Ability to complete and be certified in CPR and First Aid.
13. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, be in good physical condition, bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 50# or more may be required.
