What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Development Specialist position at Evans Child Development Center?
Currently, we are seeking a Lead Teacher for our 2 year old classroom.
Our staff provide a supportive and caring environment for children by working together with parents and one another, to foster cooperation, collaboration, and community within our center.
A Lead Teacher at Evan's Child Development Center (ECDC) plans and provides Developmentally Appropriate Activities that promote growth and the achievement of developmental milestones for each child. A Lead Teacher oversees classroom education, indoor and outdoor play, nutrition, and rest to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in care.
Job Responsibilities
- -Promote the physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of each child using the NC Foundations Curriculum.
- -Develop weekly lesson plans that provide fun and interactive learning experiences.
- -Communicate directly with parents and prospective parents to share developmental observations, set goals, share daily achievements, and address concerns using a team approach that supports the individual needs and success of the child.
- -Ensure the constant care and safety of every child, following all NC licensing guidelines and ECDC standards and procedures.
- -Maintain an inviting and engaging classroom that is clean and organized.
- -Participate in staff development opportunities with the Director and fellow teachers.
- Education & Training Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- EDU 119 plus 12 total credit hours in Early Childhood Education.
- Qualifying Letter from NC Division of Child Development and Early Education.
- Associate's degree in ECE preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certified or willingness to complete certification within the first 30 days of employment.
- Complete credit hours and annual training as required by NCDCDEE to maintain the center's 4 star rating.
- Physical Requirements
- Able to lift 35 pounds frequently over the course of each workday.
- Able to stand, sit, walk, use stairs, lift, push, pull, kneel, crouch, reach, and carry as needed to care for young children.
- Able to see, hear, and verbally communicate to properly supervise young children.
