Evans & Dixon is currently seeking to add a Legal Assistant with 1-4 years of experience to join our Chicago worker's compensation defense team. This is a demanding and fast paced position for an ambitious person. Candidates must be responsible, have the ability to multi-task, possess the ability to organize and maintain files; have excellent technical, interpersonal, and client-related skills; have a creative and diplomatic approach to problem solving and a keen sense of organization. We are looking for self- disciplined candidates with a strong work ethic.
Gain valuable and real-world legal experience by working alongside attorneys during all phases of the litigation process, from the initiation of a case to the discovery period through trial and post-trial findings and appeals.
Responsibilities:
- Filing, copying, and scanning
- Completing the necessary tasks to open a new case
- Organize and maintain documents in a paper or electronic filing systems
- Gather and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation
- File exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents with the court or opposing counsel
- Call clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, and depositions
- Transcription of dictation
Skills and Specifications:
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs
- Ability to learn various software applications
Education and Qualifications:
- 1-4 years of legal experience
