Industrial Electrian - Food Manufacturing

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrician to join our maintenance team at a fast-paced snack food manufacturing plant. The Electrician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment to ensure continuous and efficient plant operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, safety protocols, and have a proactive approach to problem-solving in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Electrical Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of electrical systems and equipment, including motors, PLCs, lighting, control systems, and power distribution panels.
• Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Troubleshoot and resolve electrical malfunctions and system failures, both independently and in coordination with other maintenance staff.
• System Installation: Assist in the installation of new electrical systems, machinery, and equipment in accordance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure all electrical work is done in accordance with local, state, and federal electrical codes, as well as plant safety regulations. Maintain proper documentation for all electrical maintenance activities.
• Preventative Maintenance: Participate in the development and implementation of a preventative maintenance program for electrical systems and machinery to minimize downtime and enhance plant productivity.
• Collaboration: Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify and resolve electrical issues that affect production timelines.
• Upgrades & Improvements: Support the upgrading of electrical systems to improve plant efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and support production goals.
• Emergency Response: Provide timely response to electrical emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to production operations.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all repairs, maintenance work, and replacements performed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (required). A technical certification or associate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience (minimum of 3 years) as an industrial electrician, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, PLCs, motors, and power distribution systems.
• Familiarity with electrical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Experience with safety protocols and working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking and reporting.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, and moving machinery.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working in the food manufacturing industry or similar industrial settings.
• Certification or licensing in electrical work (e.g., Journeyman Electrician).
• Knowledge of automated production systems and robotics.
