What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Quality Welding Engineer position at Evapco?
The Corporate Quality Welding Engineer position is based out of Evapco’s Global Headquarters in Taneytown, MD and will report to the Senior Corporate Quality Welding Engineer. This position will work closely with many different departments, both domestic and international, to implement solutions related to welding and weld inspection at the factory and field levels.
Responsibilities
Quality Control:
Work with other Evapco Welding Engineers on WPS/ PQR Development and Testing
Manage the WPQ, Workmanship, and Continuity Log process for all North American facilities
Analyze and report on failed samples returned from both factory and field environments
Conduct annual and supplemental Welding Quality audits across Evapco facilities
Design and Development:
Assist in the implementation of a formalized welder training program
Assist in the implementation of a formalized NDE training program
Assist Design and Manufacturing Engineers in the design and development of Welding Processes, Techniques, Joint Designs, and Jigs/ Fixtures
Process Optimization:
Analyze Quality and Inspection Data to regularly identify opportunities for improvement
Assist Manufacturing Engineering in the development of new welding processes and techniques
Visit suppliers, vendors, trade shows, etc. to evaluate new Welding or NDE related tools, equipment, and processes.
Safety and Compliance:
Commitment to all safety policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with applicable fabrication and inspection codes, standards, and procedures.
Technical Reporting:
Ability to generate technical documents (reports, procedures, instructions, etc.) for both internal and customer facing audiences.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Proficient in GMAW & GTAW welding
No qualification test required but must be able to lead hands on demonstrations.
Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing and Destructive Testing practices
Ability to obtain CWI within 18 month of start date
Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., ASME, AWS, ASNT).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Skills (Desirable)
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
ASNT Level II or higher in any of the following disciplines: VT, PT, LT, and/ or ET
