Evapco, Inc., an employee owned company, is currently seeking a People Operations Generalist (HR Generalist) to join our People Operations Department at the Evapco Midwest location in Greenup, Illinois.
Position Summary
The People Operations Generalist will be responsible for supporting a variety of human resources functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and benefits administration. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HR best practices and a passion for fostering a positive and productive workplace culture. This position reports to the People Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
Supervisory Duties :
Supervises team of 5-6 People Operations employees in administrative and HR support roles.
Coaches and develops direct reports for peak performance and continuous growth.
Works closely with direct reports to ensure effective processes related to recruitment and onboarding, payroll, performance management and benefits administration.
Encourages and supports the People Operations team in the continuous improvement of the department’s processes and practices.
Performs audits on HR tasks to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Recruitment & Onboarding :
Collaborates and assists People Operations team with the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, assisting at onsite and offsite hiring events or career fairs, and managing offer letters.
Supervise the coordination and facilitation of new employee onboarding, ensuring a smooth transition into the company.
Employee Relations :
Serves as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries and concerns.
Provides guidance to managers and employees on company policies, procedures, and employment laws.
Payroll and Performance Management :
Collaborates with the payroll team to process payroll accurately and timely.
Conducts timekeeping and payroll audits to ensure accuracy of payroll records.
Provides education and assistance to supervisors regarding timekeeping questions, including various forms of employee leave (vacation, FMLA, short term disability, etc.).
Provides all required payroll and production reports to Management as required.
Oversee the performance review process, which includes tracking deadlines, coordinating feedback, and processing wage adjustments.
Benefits Administration :
Communicates and administers employee benefits programs, including health insurance, short term disability (STD), long term disability (LTD), Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and other company-provided benefits.
Assists employees with benefit inquiries and ensures proper enrollment.
Compliance & Reporting :
Works in collaboration with the People Operations Manager to ensure HR policies and practices are compliant with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
Maintains accurate HR records and generates reports as needed for management.
Employee Engagement :
Continuously optimizes our work environment to ensure a safe, engaged and productive employee base.
Promotes a cooperative and harmonious environment that facilitates positive employee morale, productivity, and continued improvement.
Help organize employee events and recognition programs to foster a positive company culture.
Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management or a related field preferred.
2-4 years prior experience in HR Generalist or related role in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Experience applying the knowledge of federal, state, labor and employment laws.
Prior experience with staffing, payroll, and benefits execution preferred.
Previous supervisory experience preferred. 1
