About This Role
The Accounts Receivable Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that all insurance claims are submitted, followed up on, and resolved in a timely and accurate manner. This position is responsible for managing unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims by working closely with insurance companies, healthcare providers, internal teams, and patients to resolve billing issues.
What You'll Do
- Monitor, follow up, and resolve unpaid claims with insurance providers, government agencies, and patients.
- Manage denials and rejections, ensuring accurate corrections are made and appeals are submitted timely.
- Work closely with billing and coding teams to ensure all claims are submitted accurately and timely, in compliance with FQHC regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting with insurance companies, patients, and internal stakeholders to resolve billing issues.

- 2 years of experience in healthcare insurance follow-up, ideally within an FQHC or similar healthcare environment.
- 2 years of experience working with Epic (REQUIRED)
- Familiarity with FQHC billing guidelines, including specific payer requirements such as Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payers.
- Proficiency in handling denied, underpaid, and unpaid claims, with experience in denial management and the appeals process.
- Knowledge of patient accounts and the ability to manage complex billing issues related to sliding fee scales, patient responsibility, and payer-specific rules.
