LME Technician

 

 

Department: Maintenance

Status: Non-exempt

Employee Classification: Regular Full-time Reports To: Maintenance Manager Supervisory Responsibilities: None

 

Job Summary: The LME Technician will monitor, repair and maintain the plant’s production and electrical equipment as well as perform maintenance on the facility and its utilities. This includes performing preventative, corrective, and diagnostic maintenance tasks on assigned equipment, setting up and testing equipment for startup and inspecting, lubricating and making necessary repairs to equipment. Successful candidates will be required to use their troubleshooting skills and experience to resolve technical, mechanical, electrical, and programming problems that may occur. Will be responsible for training new LME candidates

Essential Functions:

  1. Perform all tasks in a safe manner. This is not only an essential function but a condition of employment.
  2. Adhere to all company policies, GMPs, and SOPs
  3. The ability to work with a team, understand and apply basic mechanical concepts and accept training and constructive criticism are imperative. The following functions are expected to be achievable with reasonable training and guidance.
  4. Troubleshoot and maintain processing equipment both mechanical and electrical
  5. Inspect, recognize potential problems and take appropriate action to prevent component failure
  6. Monitor machinery to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and identify opportunities for improvement
  7. Assist team leaders and machine operators in efficient line start up and equipment adjustments
  8. Perform building maintenance and repairs as needed
  9. Maintain documentation related to maintenance tasks
  10. Weld and fabricate machinery when necessary
  11. Maintenance, repair, service or installation may include but not limited to:
    1. VFD Drives
    2. Pumps / motors
    3. Conveyor systems
    4. AC / DC controls
    5. Pneumatics

 

    1. Frequency control drives
    2. Hydraulic and electrical equipment
    3. Refrigeration / Freezer systems and controls
    4. Electronic controls
  1. Boiler maintenance
  2. Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to schedule and develop routine and preventative maintenance schedules.
  3. Work closely with new hires, train, evaluate and document their progress to ensure they are capable of performing maintenance functions prior to allowing them to work on equipment unsupervised.
  4. Manage the routine and preventative maintenance of the plant equipment.
  5. Maintain the schedule and adjust accordingly to maintain a positive work/life balance in conjunction with the flexibility requirements of customer demands.
  6. POC for team members requiring assistance with non-standard work, emergency repairs and vendor contact.
  7. Set the pace for the team with regards to work ethics, safety, GMPs and attitude.
  8. Assist team members when faced with challenges they are unable to overcome.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  1. Must hold and maintenance an Oregon Limited Maintenance Electrician license
  2. 2 years or greater of previous experience as an LME is highly beneficial
  3. 5 years or greater of general industrial maintenance experience
  4. In-depth knowledge of the electrical industry
  5. Familiar with motor control circuits, Sensors, VFD’s, PLC’s, light fixture ballast replacement. Need to work safely

with 480 & 230VAC 3Ø, 270VAC, 120VAC and 24 /12 VDC systems.

  1. Experience in a production/manufacturing environment preferred
  2. MIG / TIG welding and fabrication of stainless preferred not required
  3. Forklift experience preferred not required will train onsite
  4. Knowledge of mechanical systems and components including chains, sprockets, gears, bushings, bearings, gear boxes and other moving parts
  5. Bilingual is a plus (English/Spanish)
  6. Problem solving and diagnosis skills
  7. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with coworkers, supervisors and department managers required
  8. Basic math skills
  9. Self-starter, ability to work alone
  10. Good organizational skills and detail-oriented
  11. Availability and willingness to work flexible job hours as needed

 

Working Conditions/Physical Factors:

  1. Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
  2. Worker may be exposed to a loud working environment.

 

  1. Worker may be exposed to hazards in the workplace such as proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving parts and electrical current.
  2. Must be able to work in an environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.)
  3. Must be able to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  4. Frequently required to use hands and fingers.
  5. Frequently required to talk or hear.
  6. Frequently required to taste and smell.
  7. Frequently required to lift / push / pull / carry weight up to 50 lbs.
  8. Specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  9. Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  10. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
