Responsibilities
Purchasing
· Negotiate with suppliers for favorable prices, terms, quality, and delivery.
· Receive and review orders and invoices
Meat Cutting
· Establish standards for meat cutting to meet quality, pricing, margin control, and customer service goals.
· Cut meat and oversee meat cutting for department.
· Establish and oversee adherence to health and safety standards and practices for department meat cutting and handling.
Merchandising
· See that displays are replenished, rotated, and checked for quality.
· Ensure accurate product labeling and clear, attractive signs.
· Develop new products and customer services in meat department.
· Assist customers with product questions and special orders.
Personnel Management
· Ensure on-the-job training.
· Conduct performance evaluations.
· Schedule hours for department staff within budget, and review timecards.
· Organize meetings of meat and seafood department staff as needed.
· Ensure Department staff are informed of storewide meetings and policy changes.
General Management
· Establish and implement operations plans to meet department goals.
· Review financial reports of department performance and take corrective action as needed.
· Perform other tasks assigned by Operations Manager.
· Conduct regular inventory counts.
· Maintain department equipment in working order. Advise Operations Manager of equipment repair or replacement needs.
Job Qualifications
· Supervisory experience – hiring, training, evaluating
· Meat cutting- cut meat and oversee meat cutting for department
· Experience managing fresh meat department purchasing, merchandising, and pricing to meet goals for sales, margin, customer service, and department expenses
· Good communication skills
· Organized, attention to detail.
· Self-motivated, organized, responsible, flexible
· Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
