The company seeks to hire a highly skilled and experienced Head of Financial Operations to lead and oversee all financial operations for its Chilean market. This is a key leadership role within the finance function, and the individual will play an essential part in driving efficiency, financial performance, and operational excellence with focus in customer service. Key responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Lead the financial operations team in Chile in the insurance technical Accounts (intermediate commission, coinsurance accounts, account receivables and payables) and regular expenses payment process, ensuring smooth and efficient financial processes and operations across the organization. Develop and execute a strategic vision for financial operations, aligned with company-wide goals and objectives. Collaborate with senior management and regional finance teams to drive business strategies, with a focus on operational effectiveness and profitability. Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, financial reporting, and treasury functions. Ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded, compliant with local regulations, and processed in a timely manner. Lead the financial closing process for the Chilean business, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Continuously review and improve financial processes, workflows, and controls to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with internal and external audit standards. Implement best practices and automation tools to streamline financial operations and improve data accuracy and accessibility. Ensure compliance with local financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards (IFRS or local GAAP) for the Chilean market. Identify financial risks and work proactively to mitigate them, ensuring that the company adheres to local legal and regulatory frameworks. Manage and develop a high-performing financial operations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation. Provide coaching, training, and professional development opportunities to ensure the team remains skilled and motivated. Set clear performance objectives and KPIs for the team and provide ongoing feedback and performance reviews. Qualifications, Education & Experience: Qualified professional with a minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience with a strong background in leading teams and operations within Chile or the LATAM region. A bachelor’s degree in Business/Economics/Finance/Accountancy is preferred, although candidates possessing a degree or qualification in a related or analytical discipline will be considered. A professional accounting qualification is required. Experience of financial planning and analysis in an insurance organisation is required. Knowledge, Skills & Competences Strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines. Ability to multitask and operate efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Strong analytical, problem solving, and technical skills. Effective stakeholder management and business partnering skills to effectively execute plans and implement strategies. Effective negotiation skills with the ability to find “win-win” solutions. Self-starter, capable of working both independently and within a team environment. Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to understand and ensure compliance with all internal and external management and regulatory controls. Good understanding of insurance industry and specific product portfolios to positively impact the underwriting business.
