The Development Director will lead Evergreen's advancement initiatives and development events to address both the short- and long-term needs of the organization. This role involves establishing fundraising goals by engaging a robust donor network and cultivating relationships with key stakeholders and industry partners. We are looking for someone who understands non-profit development and has experience soliciting meaningful contributions during in-person engagements. The ideal candidate will share a commitment to Washington State's mountain biking community and trails and believe in Evergreen's mission to make Washington the best place to ride.

Key Responsibilities Strategy and Organizational Leadership

  • The Development Director reports to the Executive Director and will be a key member of the leadership team with influence in all parts of the organization.
  • Actively participate in Evergreen’s activities, including staff retreats, events, and site visits.
  • Collaborate with and support the Executive Director (ED) and Board of Directors in setting and achieving development strategies.
  • Partner with the ED and leadership team to identify resource development priorities.
  • Foster an organizational culture of philanthropy.

Development and Fundraising Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy.
  • Track and manage all major donors.
  • Knowledge and adherence to fundraising best practices and policies.
  • Support and coach volunteers and staff with fundraising initiatives.
  • Track campaign results and provide summary reports.
  • Foster an environment of inclusivity and engagement.
  • Ideal Candidate

    You are deeply passionate about Evergreen’s mission and vision, and committed to fostering equity within the organization and the broader community. You bring a minimum of three years of leadership experience, with a proven track record of innovation in development and fundraising strategies.

    You are also :

  • An effective communicator through writing and in-person presentations.
  • Familiar with the donor Moves Management process.
  • Passionate about building relationships and serving as an exceptional team leader.
  • You bring a personal connection to mountain biking.
  • Experience with coordinating and executing medium to large-scale public-facing events.
  • You are committed to making mountain biking welcoming to all.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Accomplished development history, preferably in outdoor recreation or natural resource conservation.
  • Background and passion for volunteer engagement and coordination.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with community event production.
  • Ability to learn new technology quickly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Candidates will be subject to a background check.

    Employment Offer & Agreement

    The Development Director is a full-time, exempt position with flexible work hours. The salary range is $77,000 - $81,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

    Benefits include :

  • Eleven paid holidays per year.
  • Twenty days of personal time off per year.
  • 200 / pay period stipend for health care premiums.
  • 35 / pay period stipend for mobile phone and internet.
  • A one-time start-up technology purchase reimbursement of $700.
  • Annual tech upgrades of up to $500.
  • Up to $1,500 annual reimbursement for continued education.
  • Up to $200 annual reimbursement for personal workwear.
  • Mileage reimbursements for meetings and events.
  • 401K retirement plan (after three months).
  • Location : North Bend, WA. Remote work is permitted, with a recommended 1-day week in-office day.
