Description
The Lean Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the process design, operation and implementation. The successful candidate will be able to improve industrial processes to increase efficiency, implement and improve ergonomics, install automation solutions, reduce costs, implement lean tools, improve sustainability and maximize profitability.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Develop, configure and optimize industrial processes from inception through to start up and certification
- Work with Production and Plant Managers to assess existing processes
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, waste removal and cost reduction
- Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes
- Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output
- Perform time studies on current processes and analyze for improvement.
- Perform process simulations, diagramming the flow, including inputs and outputs of business processes
- Manage cost and time constraints
- Identify opportunities for improvement
- Develop and manage project plans for implementing improvements
- Perform risk assessments
- Provide process documentation and standard work documents as processes are improved
- Ensure operations comply with safety and quality standards
- Coordinate and lead continuous improvement team meetings using lean tools
- Teaching, leading, and coaching cross-functional teams on continuous improvement concepts and tools
Qualifications
Skills/Experience:
- Passion for continuous improvement
- Lean Certification/Black Belt preferred
- Experience in manufacturing continuous improvement environment: 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping
- Proven work experience in process engineering
- Excellent technical skills
- Working knowledge of process engineering software packages
- CAD or AutoCAD skills
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations
- Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills
- BS degree in Engineering
