As Commercial and Product Counsel at Everlaw, you will represent Legal in two critical areas: commercial transactions and product counseling. Reporting directly to the Legal Director - Head of Commercial and Product, you will work cross-functionally to drive Everlaw’s business objectives while mitigating legal risks. In this role, you’ll combine strategic vision with practical expertise to develop scalable legal processes and partnerships, negotiate complex commercial agreements, and ensure compliance across product and commercial initiatives.

In your role, you'll...
- Be the Commercial and Product Legal Advisor: Partner with Everlaw’s commercial, R&D, and Legal Teams to identify and manage legal issues and risks during all stages of our product development and go-to-market activities. Embed with those teams to monitor updates and advise on legal implications as the product and business evolves.
- Negotiate Commercial Agreements: Draft and negotiate agreements with strategic partners, customers, resellers, and vendors. Provide practical advice on legal issues and risks to stakeholders and leadership.
- Enhance Operational Efficiency: Partner with Legal Operations to identify and develop scalable ways to deliver legal services and drive business results, including maintaining playbooks, training programs, and self-service tools to empower the legal and business teams.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with Business Development, Sales, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Finance teams to solve problems, build partnerships, and close deals efficiently.
- Drive Product Compliance: Provide full lifecycle legal counsel for global products, ensuring compliance with U.S. and international regulations in areas like privacy, intellectual property, marketing, and security.
About You
- Business and Legal Advisor: Track record of business and solution oriented counseling in a fast-paced environment and under tight deadlines.
- Strong Issue Spotter: Proven ability to identify, prioritize and resolve issues quickly and independently.
- Scaling and Efficiency Skills: Skilled in implementing legal processes that streamline operations and enable growth. Fluent in translating legal advice into actionable guidance for business teams.
- Highly Motivated and Entrepreneurial: A proactive problem solver who finds creative and practical solutions to complex challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Qualified to Practice Law in the U.S.: JD or equivalent, licensed in California or eligible to become Registered In-House Counsel in California.
- Multidisciplinary Counsel: A minimum of 4 years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on complex commercial transactions (within the SaaS space), including 2 years at a law firm and 1 year in-house.
Benefits
- The expected salary range for this role is between $145,000 and $185,000. The final offered salary will be dependent upon many factors including the candidate’s experience and skills. The base pay range is subject to change in the future.
