What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineering Intern position at Everline Tech?
Summary:
We are seeking an exceptional Mechanical Engineering Intern to join the team. In this position, you will work within the Sensor Design group to help support the existing two mechanical engineers with the analyzing, building and testing of new capacitance sensors and transducers.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Work closely with production to build new capacitance sensor designs
- Help diagnose production related issues with sensor performance
- Perform various types of mechanical and thermal analyses using SolidWorks and/or COMSOL FEA
- Test sensors at the capacitance output level
- Test sensors and electronics at the voltage (transducer) output level
- Analyze test data and produce detailed reports
- Design and troubleshoot various test systems
- Design bespoke test equipment via 3D printing, CNC milling, etc.
Required Skills:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Mechanical Engineering or relevant majors
- Comfortable with using standard hand tools for building transducers and test systems
- SolidWorks CAD modeling and FEA analysis
- Microsoft Excel, Matlab or Python script writing for data processing
- Soldering of various electrical wiring and PCB components
- Electronics debugging via capacitance, resistance and electrical continuity testing
Reporting Relationships: Reporting to Engineering Manager in Sensor Design Engineering group
Competencies:
- Willingness to perform extensive test data analysis
- Good understanding of mechanical design principles
- Good understanding of heat transfer principles
- Proficient with using test instrumentation like thermocouples, strain gauges, infrared cameras, etc.
