Position Overview
This role is responsible for managing a comprehensive range of HR functions at the facility. Key responsibilities include talent acquisition, employee and labor relations, payroll management, compensation and benefits administration, onboarding, internal communications, training, employee engagement initiatives, leave administration, and general HR operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic HR partner in developing, communicating, and executing company policies, guidelines, procedures, and programs across the organization.
- Maintain a consistent onsite presence (this is not a hybrid role).
- Lead recruitment efforts, conduct interviews, and collaborate with operational leaders to fill vacancies at the New Bedford, MA facility.
- Oversee pre-employment background verification and manage all onboarding activities for new hires.
- Serve as a key liaison between management and union representatives, addressing labor-related matters and ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Resolve employee concerns and workplace disputes efficiently and equitably.
- Administer payroll processing, compensation structures, and employee benefits.
- Conduct market research to ensure competitive salary and benefits offerings.
- Identify and coordinate training and professional development initiatives.
- Assess and enhance the effectiveness of training programs in collaboration with the HR team.
- Provide guidance to managers on performance management and employee relations matters.
- Ensure adherence to labor laws and regulatory requirements, including compiling and submitting compliance reports such as the Disabled/Veteran Affirmative Action Plans, EEO-1, and VETS-100.
- Stay informed of updates in employment legislation and integrate necessary policy adjustments.
- Lead investigations, enforce disciplinary policies, and mediate workplace conflicts as needed.
- Support HR initiatives such as benefits administration, employee events, internal communications, and company meetings.
- Represent the organization at external HR-related events, including job fairs and industry roundtables.
- Maintain precise and confidential employee records, audit HRIS data, and ensure system accuracy through appropriate validation processes.
- Prepare and analyze HR reports and metrics, including monthly turnover reports.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR management experience, with a focus on employee and labor relations in a manufacturing setting.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Human Resources, coupled with leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of HR best practices and compliance requirements across diverse employee populations.
- Proficiency in HR technology systems and advanced computer skills.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and act as a trusted advisor to both management and employees.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and conflict resolution skills.
