The Medical Director is a dynamic leader who is an active member of Everstand’s Senior Leadership team and uses their expertise and training to guide Everstand’s policies and practices. The Medical Director works closely with the Executive Leadership Team to recommend and implement innovative strategies that enhance patient care and improve outcomes for the youth and families served. The Medical Director works closely with leaders and teams at all locations and services within Everstand’s Continuum to promote integrated care in line with Everstand’s Theory of Change.

What does this job do specifically?

- Obtain and maintain certification as a “user” in Everstand’s electronic health record software system. Lends leadership to support integration of EHR into departmental workflows in an effort to fully optimize functionality of the system to support outcomes.
- Ensure programmatic and fiduciary goals are achieved consistent with Everstand’s Strategic Plan. Establish and oversee departmental productivity standards for providers to align with MA reimbursable services and contractual regulations.
- Provides direct oversight and support for Everstand’s providers and medical team in the Maryland program and indirect oversight to medical and clinical teams in other locations, with the goal of comprehensive and integrated treatment in line with Everstand’s Theory of Change.
- Serve as a resource and provide consultative services as needed or requested to contracted medical professionals including but not limited to, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, etc.
- Participate in necessary recruitment and credentialing activities for the medical team.
- Review and provide consultation regarding contract development and implementation with outside agencies/providers of psychiatric services across Everstand’s continuum to meet organizational goals.
- Provide leadership and oversight to the organization’s CQI plan. Evaluate Everstand’s care practices and make recommendations that align with the current innovations in somatic and behavioral health to promote optimal outcomes for Everstand’s youth and families.
- Provide oversight to service delivery of medical care and clinical services including cost management, utilization review and medical protocol development.
- Act as Everstand’s medical expert to recommend and draft public and somatic health policies and practices based on current industry trends in support of a healthy and safe work environment and culture.
- Employ adaptive leadership to nimbly navigate and adapt Everstand’s operating procedures and practices to evolve with current needs identified by the organization.
Required Education and Experience
- Possession of a medical degree.
- Completion of a residency in psychiatry.
- Current State of Maryland Physician’s license.
- Three (3) years experience in the field of Psychiatry.
- Maintenance of a Controlled Substances Registration Certificate as issued by the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Board Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- Licensure in the states that Everstand operates
