About Us Evolution Expeditions is the premier kayak adventure tour company in the Las Vegas area. As the largest, most experienced, and longest-running outfitter in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, we specialize in providing exceptional kayaking and hiking adventures. We’re seeking professional, mature, and fun guides to join our team and deliver unforgettable experiences to our guests. We operate year-round; however, work availability is significantly impacted by seasonality, with limited opportunities typically between December and March.
We are currently planning our first class of hires between March 1st- April 1st.

Responsibilities
- Lead and instruct kayaking and hiking tours safely and professionally.
- Conduct safety briefings and demonstrate the proper use of equipment.
- Entertain and educate guests with engaging natural and cultural history information (e.g., geology, wildlife, history).
- Provide water rescues in emergencies and assist with guest needs.
- Proform proper decision making quickly and calmly under intense chaotic situations
- Load, unload, clean, and maintain equipment (kayaks, paddles, personal flotation devices).
- Drive company vehicles to/from the Las Vegas Strip and launch points (all guides will be trained to safely drive with a kayak trailer)
- Follow and promote Leave No Trace practices.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Essential Qualifications
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs and lift 35 lbs overhead to safely handle kayaks and other equipment. Ability to maintain a consistent active paddle pace for 3 hours in heavy winds or other weather conditions. Ability to confidently lead and assist easy to difficult hikes which include rock scrambles, slippery surfaces, steep and uneven terrain and fixed-rope assisted climbs.
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate strong communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to engage diverse age groups, establish authority, and earn respect to effectively lead and manage groups.
- Professionalism: Dependable, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure.
- Customer Service: Exceptional hospitality skills with a positive, team-oriented attitude. Ability to maintain composure while managing groups with diverse skill levels and abilities.
- Certifications: Must obtain a Wilderness First Aid Certification (training provided).
Requirements
- Must be legally allowed to work in the U.S.
- Tolerance to extremely cold and extremely hot environments
- Fluent in English; bilingual skills are a plus.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to work long days in the sun with 125 degree weather.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to attend mandatory 2-week training which will include capsizing your kayak in 52 degree water multiple times (kayak rescue training).
- Reliable transportation and cell phone with SMS capabilities.
- Flexible schedule and willingness to adhere to a drug- and tobacco-free workplace policy.
- Must be prepared to utilize the full scope of Wilderness First Aid training to provide medical assistance or support rescue operations for anyone experiencing a medical emergency
Uniforms & Gear
- Evolution Expeditions provides necessary paddling gear.
- Full-time guides receive two company shirts and must maintain professional hygiene and appearance at all times.
Preferred Experience
- Background in customer service or guiding.
- Public speaking experience.
- Previous knowledge of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and the Colorado River is a bonus.
- Experience driving with a trailer.
- WFA or better certification.
- Experience with navigating the Las Vegas Strip.
