Job Summary
The Peer Recovery Specialist is a key member of the Evolution Recovery team in providing support and assistance to individuals dealing with substance abuse issues. This position involves connecting with our clients, providing guidance, support, and resources to clients, helping them develop coping strategies and achieve their recovery goals. The Peer Recovery Specialist will work collaboratively with clients, families, and other professionals to create a supportive environment. This position requires a compassionate and dedicated individual committed to promoting recovery and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments to determine clients' needs and develop individualized recovery plans.
- Offer empathetic and nonjudgmental peer support to clients, who are all facing mental health challenges and substance use disorder issues.
- Mentor clients by sharing personal experiences and strategies for overcoming challenges in recovery.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and treatment plans in accordance with organizational policies.
- Assist clients in accessing community resources, including housing, employment, and healthcare services.
- Monitor client progress and adjust recovery plans as necessary to meet evolving needs.
-Work collaboratively with a team of peers to ensure comprehensive care for individuals in recovery. Maintain regular communication with the treatment center's team, providing updates on resident progress, house maintenance, and any other pertinent information. This includes both direct communication with supervisor or team-wide communication when necessary.
Skills
- Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and practices.
- Proficient in crisis management techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
- Experience in addiction counseling or social work is highly desirable.
- Ability to conduct effective motivational interviewing sessions that inspire change.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Empathy and compassion for individuals facing mental health challenges or addiction issues.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
-Must have a valid drivers license.
