Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Peer Recovery Specialist I- Must be a person who has experienced a mental health and/or substance use condition and who has a minimum of 12 months of successful recovery to include making progress in learning about and managing his or her condition and in developing a life outside of or in addition to this condition. Must complete the DBHDS 72-hour Peer Recovery Specialist Training within 6 months of hire. Valid Virginia Drivers License
- Peer Recovery Specialist II - Registered Peer Recovery Specialist with the VA Board of Counseling (RPRS), Certified as a Peer Recovery Specialist with the Virginia Certification Board (VCB) or equivalent which includes the completion of DBHDS 72 hour Peer Recovery Specialist Training, and at least one year of Peer Recovery Specialist experience. Valid Virginia Drivers License.
