Summary

We are looking for a dedicated early educator to join the team at our Reggio Emilia inspired school where our community culture lifts up our educators, students, and families. We operate a small toddler classroom (1.5-3y / o) and are looking for the right co-teacher to help lead the classroom. We are an intimate school that serves a diverse and inclusive population, and we always work as a team to support all learners and families. Staff have reported this model of teaching and PD to be helpful in their private and professional lives.

Teachers help create a caring and safe environment for the children and assist in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. She / he / they must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. We work together to implement a quality educational program and develop positive relationships with each other. The teacher observes and documents children's interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Teachers are also responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs. We encourage healthy life-styles, positive values, creativity, outdoor play, and social and emotional learning. All lead staff get access to paid planning and training time in addition to several bonuses and perks throughout the year. Our staff really appreciate and support each other.

Duties

  • Maintain healthy responsive relationship with all babies in their care
  • Work well with coworkers to care for babies
  • Work through learning new skills like self-feeding, toileting, and dressing or contributing.
  • Maintain feeding and sleeping charts.
  • Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
  • Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
  • Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of baby / toddler care experience- can being family or home-based
  • High energy, positive attitude
  • Ability to work well with others, co-teacher material
  • Play-based, child-centered advocate
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Infant / child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
  • Optional : Desire to join the NC Apprentice Cohort on 2026

  • Take Early Childhood Education Courses (Scholarships available)
  • Participate in mentorship and training
  • pursuing a career in early childhood education
  • You need to commit to the on the job training, mentorship meetings / work, and taking at least one class a semester.
