The hiring firm is looking for an exceptional Fund Accountant / Assistant Controller to join their lean team. The Fund Accountant / Assistant Controller is responsible for all fund financial and administrative matters. The position will work closely with the team accountants, CFO, and investment professionals; and be an integral member of the broader team.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of administration and accounting for all fund partnerships and management company, including financial statements, valuations, capital calls, distributions, partnership allocations, management fee calculations and fund waterfall allocations
- Coordinate preparation and review of quarterly valuations for all portfolio companies, in accordance with GAAP; participate in monitoring all investments and reporting on performance
- Work closely with external parties including fund accountants, auditors and tax professionals, and others to ensure accurate, timely and cost-effective audits, reporting for the funds, management company and tax compliance and delivery of K-1s to investors
- Ensure compliance with the Fund Partnership agreements and GAAP requirements
- Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and documented to ensure protection of assets, compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulations
- Manage treasury activities, including credit lines, budgeting, monitoring cash balances, vendor payment, investment funding, and distributions, etc.
- Manage expense reports and review portfolio company invoices prepared by the accounting manager
- Ensure accuracy of expense allocations to the various funds
- Assist in the maintenance of Limited Partnership relationships and support communications regarding investor meetings, due diligence and fundraising data requests, distributions, and other LP communications
- Oversee execution of compliance activities such as employee stock trade monitoring
- Manage team staff including accounting and administrative professionals
- Assistance with the management of regulatory requirements, including the SEC and FINRA
- Support fund compliance areas to manage and mitigate risk, establish proper controls, support business initiatives, and protect the fund from legal and regulatory risk
- Provide support for fund raising activities
