Overview
Hiring company is a late-stage venture capital / growth equity firm with headquarters in San Francisco; and manages approximately $1.5 billion. The firm invests in life science technology, medical device, and healthcare enterprise software businesses via growth financings and acquisitions/buyouts.
The investment team consists of experienced venture investors, life science and healthcare experts, M&A professionals, and successful entrepreneurs having decades of experience in their respective disciplines. They focus on outbound sourcing efforts and work actively with their portfolio companies and management teams to help them develop strong strategic plans, highly differentiated and innovative products, and self-sustaining business models, all resulting in significant value creation for their investments.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Associate’s main responsibility will be to support the evaluation of new investment opportunities through research, outreach, analysis, diligence, and transaction execution to help the firm find and invest in high quality businesses and managers. The Associate will work with all members of the investment team, as the firm is non-hierarchical and team-oriented. The Associate must have excellent communication and analytical skills, as well as the highest integrity and self-motivation. This position offers the opportunity for advancement for the right candidate.
Investment Analysis
· Build detailed company financial models and investment returns analyses
· Conduct market research: market size/growth, competitive landscape, M&A, valuation
· Draft investment memos
Transaction Execution/Support
· Assist with due diligence, transaction documentation, and interactions with management, customers, and industry experts. Lead certain of these workstreams
Portfolio Company Analytics
· Assist with tracking portfolio company financials
· Analyze and report on portfolio company performance
· Identify issues and opportunities for improvement
Outbound Sourcing and Research
· Conduct market research using various primary and secondary sources to identify target companies and sectors
· Proactively develop and explore investment themes
· Develop relationships with partners (e.g., investment bankers, industry experts and organizations)
· Provide periodic updates to team regarding important news developments in target markets
Fund Operations
· Maintain fund valuation database
· Maintain comparables database
· Develop internal and investor presentations and communications
· Track sourcing and research efforts through proprietary CRM database
Qualifications & Personal Attributes
· At least 2 years of relevant work experience (investment banking, corporate finance, transaction advisory, accounting, venture capital, private equity, strategy consulting) ideally within the healthcare / life sciences sector
· Relevant healthcare or life science industry knowledge, experience, or education preferred
· Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills, including financial modeling, effective organization and communication capabilities, and strong writing aptitude
· Ability to synthesize information from disparate sources into clearly communicated conclusions
· Strong academic credentials; relevant BS, BA or equivalent required; MS Finance preferred
· Outstanding prior professional performance, earning highest praise and reviews from internal and external colleagues
· Impeccable ethical and personal conduct standards. Must bolster THP’s credibility in every professional interaction
· Ability to communicate clearly and crisply in both written and oral form to all levels of seniority
· Ability and desire to work in a team environment
· Proactive, with a strong sense of urgency and good self-management discipline
· Organized and efficient, with ability to define priorities and work autonomously
Salary : $120,000 - $130,000
