The Chemist IV role is a critical position within the Care Solutions R&D-Americas team at Evonik Industries. This highly independent role requires an advanced understanding of analytical techniques, synthesis processes, and instrumentation used for chemical characterization.
Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct advanced data analysis and interpretation in oleo chemistry and petrochemistry, translating findings into actionable insights.
- Perform and optimize Gas Chromatography (GC), Liquid Chromatography (LC), potentiometric titrations, and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) analyses.
- Develop, validate, and troubleshoot analytical methods while maintaining GC, LC, and titration systems.
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Transfer projects globally across four sites, ensuring smooth implementation and regulatory compliance.
- Evaluate and qualify new raw materials for cost savings, sustainability, and process improvements.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, quality, and regulatory teams, ensuring technical alignment and operational efficiency.
- Engage in customer and industry interactions, presenting research at trade associations (e.g., AOCS) and contributing to industry advancements.
- Maintain laboratory safety standards, participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), and implement digitalization tools for efficiency improvements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field.
- 3 years of experience in chemical data analysis and interpretation.
- Strong proficiency in GC and LC techniques, including chromatogram interpretation and compound quantification.
- Skillets in titrator and chromatographic software for data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.
- Knowledge of OpenLab and MassHunter software.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and maintain GC, LC, and titration systems.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and project leadership skills.
