Job Description Summary
Join our Nucleic Acid Medicine Team as an Industrial Postdoc, where you will lead and perform routine and innovative laboratory activities while adhering to stringent safety, project management, and documentation standards. This role is pivotal in supporting the development and optimization of microfluidic culture devices for screening LNP formulations. Key responsibilities include maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment inventory, assisting Senior Scientists, and driving continuous improvement in departmental and laboratory processes. You will be responsible for writing protocols and reports, executing experiments, and analyzing data to contribute to our cutting-edge research initiatives.
This position is part of an Industrial Scientist 15-month program. After successful completion of the program, employee may transition into a role within the Evonik.

Job Description Summary

Responsibilities
Lead research activities by:
- Performing a systematic comparison of commercially available microfluidic culture devices suitable for the evaluation of lipid nanoparticles
- Creating and executing an optimization plan for the existing technologies to better predict tissue targeting in animal models
- Writing standard operating procedures for experimental activities and training lab personnel
- Maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, PPE and equipment
- Following general laboratory housekeeping rules based on 5S principles
- Staying current with SOPs and training
- Attending department and group meetings as required
- Following safety practices and procedures; use personal protection equipment (PPE) appropriate to the type of hazard and exposure potential
- Actively participating in identifying and resolving safety issues
- Contacting product manufacturers and vendors as directed by supervisor
- Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedicine or any related discipline
- Extensive experience developing complex cell culture models for the evaluation of drug delivery systems, including but not limited to lipid nanoparticles
- Research publication track record on microfluidic culture devices (e.g. organ-on-chip) is a must
- Ability to work in a biosafety level 2 environment
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, display of good attention to detail and desire to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present technical data to internal stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills
