Function as the Bayport Maintenance Manager by providing maintenance and reliability functional expertise and leadership. Support safety, production, cost, and quality objectives. The Maintenance Manager provides leadership that demonstrates that safety is a core value. Ensure the plant and physical assets are maintained to the standards required to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the facility. Provide planning and scheduling for turnarounds and daily work, establish predictive and preventive techniques, establish maintenance KPIs, develop and maintain procedures and provide cost tracking and controls. Drive continuous improvement of systems that impact reliability. Manage warehouse functions at the site including personnel, costs, and inventory strategy. This position is accountable for ensuring the mechanical integrity program is functioning and effective.
Responsibilities
Management Team
Share leadership in site improvement efforts and the general management of the Bayport facility consistent with stated beliefs, values and behavioral standards of the site. Provide maintenance and reliability engineering resources. Become an expert in assigned fields and actively sponsor their use across Evonik.
Loss Prevention
Responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and Company Safety, Health, and Environmental Programs, Polices and Procedures. Audit all maintenance work for compliance with Plant Loss Prevention Policies. Ensure that all work improves or maintains the overall safety and health impact of the site. Take an active role in ensuring that the plant is continuously improving HSE performance.
Planning Control Ensure at the Bayport site’s planning and control systems are effective. Department goals meet plant business needs/plans; and the department operations are managed for maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Contribute to strategic planning for the Bayport plant.
Plant Maintenance/Quality Assurance
Manage the resources required to maintain/enhance the plant’s equipment and facilities to achieve or exceed required levels of production with a Contract maintenance workforce. Plan, organize, lead, and control all maintenance activities in order to maintain equipment reliability and meet production and quality requirements in a safe, cost effective manner. Promote state-of-the-art condition-monitoring predictive maintenance techniques to improve plant up-time. Direct the receiving and warehousing of all incoming non-productive materials. Participate in the overall coordination, management and review of the quality process as a member of the Plant Management Team.
Cost Management
Manage the resources required to plan, develop, implement and enhance cost awareness, control, and reduction programs to ensure favorable performance against plant maintenance and departmental operating budgets. Actively participate in collecting and disseminating information and resources to allow the maintenance group to improve their technical performance and management techniques. Develop, implement, and actively manage warehouse inventory strategy for the site.
Human Resources
Responsible for leading and supporting development
of reliability/manufacturing competencies and skills throughout the workforce, continuous development of maintenance skills, and providing an environment to foster improved teamwork within and between teams/crews. Leading change initiatives to support organizational growth, development, and skills.
Project and Capital Work
Provide input and support in developing Bayport project scopes that consider both maintenance and reliability objectives. Provide input on capital strategy and long-term planning for reliability improvements. To examine all PM capital critically to reduce the amount of capital necessary.
Responsible Care Management Systems - Any other responsibilities listed in RC-XX-01-001 “Roles and Responsibility Matrix” as it pertains to RCMS.

CHALLENGES
- Effectively manage the sometimes-conflicting requirements of maintenance and reliability engineering disciplines at the plant level.
- Maintain/upgrade the Bayport facilities while having to work through a largely contract maintenance workforce.
- Accomplish plant and group managerial duties while sometimes performing roles in maintenance disciplines due to the small staff size.
- Establish maintenance and reliability KPIs and provide analysis and improvements based on these KPIs.
- Be innovative in the application of technology in the pursuit of improved plant performance and quality.
- Lead plant reliability team made of personnel from cross functional areas. Develop knowledge of the process to enable a contribution to be made to
- plant operations as well as
- Associates degree with trade school certification or engineering degree in chemical, mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing environment, chemical, refining, paper mill, or similar industry
- Prior experience in PSM or RMP regulated facility
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong analytical, personal computer, organizational and leadership abilities Mechanical aptitude.
- In depth knowledge of various maintenance crafts
- Working knowledge of maintenance and reliability engineering disciplines.
