Responsibilities
- Support site Strategic Partnerships with customers as it relates to rotating equipment and planning services.
- Responsible for the completion of employee’s formal performance evaluations. Use the performance evaluation as the means to steer the work force to a high level of efficiency and productivity.
- Applies disciplinary measures as needed and/or required under HR policies and procedures.
- Fulfills administrative responsibilities approving vacation, time off and supporting accuracy of time sheets for Evonik and contract technicians working in assigned area.
- Develops technician work force by identifying training needs and facilitating technical resources for the timely training application.
- Responsible for the effective execution of all maintenance work within assigned area with a high level of demonstrated safety and environmental awareness.
- Coaches and mentors technicians by providing tactical direction for the routine and preventive maintenance activities.
- Oversee small Cap Ex and Maintenance projects for departmental needs and chronic problem resolution.
- Design/Modify maintenance strategies, procedures and methods.
- Carry out routine scheduled maintenance work and responding to equipment faults.
- Diagnose breakdown problems.
- Carry out quality inspections for jobs, ensure proper reporting, and low levels of rework.
- Act as a liaison with customers and engineering or production colleagues.
- Monitor and control maintenance costs in his/her area of responsibility.
- Coordinate emergency work, unplanned problems and repairs.
- Uphold and improve Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
- Working with specialized equipment and Technicians as needed to solve or detect problems.
- Modify maintenance plans, strategies or procedures as needed.
- Ensure that there is proper coverage to repair machinery or equipment in case of breakdowns.
- Provide guidance to the mechanical maintenance personnel in the repair, maintenance and installation of process equipment including problem-solving and measurement activities that support continuous plant operations.
- Manages work load, by distributing maintenance labor and coordinating manpower in assigned area.
- Leads the assigned technical team to operate consistently in a continuous improvement environment.
- Manages maintenance system controls, area budgets, KPIs, and related maintenance support services to achieve maximum efficiencies and overall effectiveness.
- Provides feedback to other groups including, but not limited to, production, technical, engineering, etc; in support of continuous improvement efforts.
- Works with the Maintenance Teams to optimize departmental effectiveness.
- Supports site efforts in the development, management and implementation of planning activities.
- Checks jobs for completeness and additional work.
- Reviews employee performance formally and informally on a regular basis.
- Develops and maintains metrics for departmental progress and performance.
- Uses a collaborative approach to solve chronic problem issues for plant equipment.
- Assists in breakdown investigations using root cause analysis, 5-Why, and/or other analytic techniques.
- Supervises the planning department for the site. Includes daily and shutdown planning for all crafts on site. (IE, Mech, Pipe, Civil, Insulation, Paint, & Reliability)
- Implement tools, techniques, procedures required to improve overall site planning efforts.
- Overall responsible for development of and adherence to the site work order planning process.
- Ensure proper planning for site shutdown and TAR efforts.
- Work with TAR Management and Scheduling professional to ensure adherence to the overall schedule requirements.
- Work to remove inefficiencies and obstacles as it relates to your areas of responsibilities.
- Establish KPI’s and/or audits to monitor adherence to established processes and procedures.
- Coaches and mentor’s technicians/planners by providing tactical direction for the routine and preventive maintenance activities.
- Regional support to the region as it relates to planning, scheduling and rotating equipment.
- Drives increased efficiency by maximizing Wrench Time across all crafts including contractor resources, and helping technicians remove “roadblocks” in their daily work by frequently visiting work sites in the field.
- Creates daily schedules and balances resources to the weekly schedule in coordination with other S6 Maintenance Coordinators on the site.
- Works with planners to ensure planners are allowed to perform planner duties.
- Assist the maintenance manager with evaluation of manpower estimations and planning.
- Engineering degree (mechanical, electrical or chemical) and five (5) years experience as a Maintenance Engineer or Supervisor are preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- SAP knowledge required.
- Preferred incumbent should possess broad based skills in all maintenance crafts.
- The incumbent must be results oriented, decisive, and have good interpersonal skills.
