Job Description:
Create 3D models for industrial projects and generate complete construction plans from them using engineer provided contract drawings, integrating skilled architectural/engineering drafting methods and procedures with the operation and application of CAD software in the construction industry.
THIS POSITION REQUIRES PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH COMPLEX CONCRETE STRUCTURES.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Create detailed 3D models, scale drawings, and material and equipment bill-of-material requirements for complex projects from sketches, measurements, and standard layouts provided by customers, consultants and/or departmental contacts
- Interface with team members to obtain details and specifications for project requirements
- Review and manipulate electronic files received from consultants and departmental contacts
- Revise CAD drawings and plans to represent “as-built” conditions
- Coordinate closely with Project Teams (civil, mechanical, and electrical) to develop federated 3D BIM models
- Review models and identify conflicts using clash detection
- Creating safe and efficient formwork designs for jobsite teams to follow when erecting formwork
- Drawing concrete structures from information given on contract drawings
- Finding inconsistencies and mistakes in contract drawings
- Generating 3D models of complex concrete structures
- Interacting with jobsite supervision to solve problems and come up with the best formwork options
- Working with Form Shop employees during assembly of formwork
- Make computations to figure concrete formwork pressures, shoring loads, tie loads, etc
Education and Experience:
- 2-5 years experience, or more.
- Experience with Autodesk Programs (including AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, Civil 3D and Navisworks)
- Previous 3D modeling and/or construction detailing experience required
- Plant 3D and/or Revit experience is a strong plus
- Microsoft Office products
- Broad understanding of construction (ideally large heavy civil engineering projects)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Self-motivated
- Proficiency in the use of 3D modeling and drafting software
- Ability to effectively read and interpret construction plans
- Math, time management, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Must be able to accurately create and annotate drawings
- Offer / receive constructive feedback
- Strong communication skills both oral and written
