Excel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated, and experienced Construction Services Manager for our Mounds View, MN office.

The Director of Construction Services will report to the company President. They will oversee the day to day operations of Excel’s Construction Services group. Construction Services at Excel include Construction Management, Construction Supervision, Construction Inspection/Observation and Project Management.
Responsibilities Include
- Manage Construction Services group which is primarily focused on projects in the Utility and Industrial Manufacturing fields. Management responsibilities will include:
- Lead department meetings to identify, discuss and solve department issues
- Align department quarterly goals to contribute to company quarterly and annual goals
- Monitor and adjust department resource plans to achieve project resource and department utilization goals
- Coach and develop department individual contributors
- Develop, train and enforce department processes, procedures and instructions within the group
- Supervise work of direct reports assigned to tasks, and will be expected to regularly self-perform tasks, as needed.
In addition, this individual will be required to:
- Identify, qualify, and develop new clients, as well as nurture existing client relationships, within target organizations.
- Assist project managers by providing quality oversight of project deliverables and resource planning assistance on Construction projects.
- Lead effort to make project execution tasks more efficient, by creating and training direct reports on project execution procedures.
- Build effective and collaborative relationships with the key decision-makers within our client organizations.
- Understand the short and long-term needs and challenges of our clients, as well as how Excel’s services can solve their problems, improve their competitive position, and move their business forward.
- Generate project proposals including scope/resourcing/budget.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Construction Management from an ABET-accredited program is preferred.
- Master of Business Administration is a plus.
Qualifications
- 10 years of electric power utility and/or industrial construction and project management experience.
- Strong understanding of resource qualifications and abilities to best fit client requirements. Areas of focus include engineering, construction, project management, construction observation/inspection.
- Possess knowledge of generally accepted business practices and commercial concepts.
- Ability to independently discuss relevant technical concepts (i.e., utility construction, industrial project management) with clients.
- Effectively works with individuals in various organization levels, of diverse backgrounds, on site or in office settings.
- Ability to develop and maintain rapport with clients, partners, and employees.
- Persistent, persuasive and possesses excellent communication and listening skills.
- Willing to travel up to 20% of the time.

Salary : $135,000 - $190,000
