Description
Excel Engineering is seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated Project Controls Specialist to support our Power Utility Client in Denver, CO. Excel Engineering offers Electrical, Control System Engineering, and Construction Management Consulting services in the US and abroad.
Primary Responsibilities
Candidates for the Project Controls Specialist role will be expected to have a strong background in project controls, including scheduling, forecasting, and cost accounting, with a specific focus on the construction, utilities, renewables, and engineering sectors. The Project Controls Specialist will perform the following tasks including, but not limited to:
- Analyze costs associated with capital projects and prepare monthly/yearly forecasts and budgeting accruals.
- Work closely with project managers to monitor project status, update financials, and attend project meetings (primarily virtual).
- Read work orders and contracts to assess potential delays in purchase orders.
- Participate in month-end close activities, including reconciling actuals and preparing financial reports.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment, engaging with both cost and scheduling teams as necessary.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field is required.
- Commensurate Experience: Equivalent experience in project controls or cost analysis may be considered in lieu of a formal degree, provided strong qualifications are demonstrated.
- PMP Certification is preferred
Qualifications
- 8 or more years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within the construction, engineering, or renewable energy sectors.
- Strong Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, graphs, macros)
- Experience with SAP (ECC) for reporting and data extraction.
- Experience with Primavera P6 highly preferred
