Job Title : Leave & Accommodation Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and empathetic Leave & Accommodation Specialist to support employees throughout their leave of absence and accommodation journey. This role is pivotal in ensuring a smooth and compliant process from initial leave requests to return-to-work transitions, while partnering closely w ith HR, managers, and cross-functional teams. The Specialist will ensure adherence to policies, regulatory compliance, and a seamless experience for employees.
Key Responsibilities
Administer end-to-end leave and accommodation processes, including FMLA, STD, LTD, parental leave, and company-specific leave programs.
Evaluate and approve or deny leave requests based on eligibility and medical documentation while safeguarding employee confidentiality.
Act as the first point of contact for employees and managers, offering guidance on leave policies, entitlements, and processes.
Manage return-to-work procedures and coordinate with managers on workforce planning during absences.
Maintain accurate leave and accommodation records in HRIS systems and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and global regulations.
Partner with payroll to ensure accurate advice-to-pay and coordinate leave-related payments.
Collaborate with HR, Legal, and Employee Relations teams to continuously improve leave policies and procedures.
Stay updated on regulatory changes and recommend improvements to processes and policies.
Qualifications
2-3 years of experience in Leave of Absence (LOA) and Accommodation administration.
Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and other applicable leave regulations.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive conversations with empathy and discretion.
Highly organized with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize competing tasks.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in complex leave cases.
Proficiency in HRIS systems and data management.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with leave management software (e.g., AbsenceSoft) and payroll systems like ADP.
Certification in Disability Management, Leave Management, or Rehabilitation Counseling.
Knowledge of advanced leave laws and policy development.
