Position: Senior Project Controls Specialist (Staff Augmentation)

Location: Los Alamos National Laboratory

Clearance Required: Must be eligible to obtain a Level Q Security Clearance

Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contract guidelines

We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Specialist to join a high-impact federal program through a staff augmentation role. This position plays a critical part in supporting cost and schedule management for large-scale projects in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning, development, and oversight of project schedules and ensure timely execution of project activities.
• Direct cost estimation and control processes to support program objectives.
• Oversee the preparation and delivery of comprehensive cost and schedule reports, forecasts, and variance analyses.
• Provide insight and guidance on cost trends and scheduling issues to program leadership for proactive decision-making.
• Support organizational coordination, resource planning, and administrative operations related to project execution.
• Manage high-visibility tasks involving complex technical requirements and offer expert-level insight to project teams.
• Recommend innovative solutions for cost and schedule optimization, drawing on advanced industry knowledge and best practices.
• Apply independent judgment and discretion in project planning, with minimal supervision required.
• Contribute to the evolution of internal standards, methodologies, and tools used across project controls.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in project controls, cost engineering, or scheduling. Advanced coursework or certifications preferred.
• Proven track record with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and integrated project controls platforms.
• Strong background in cost forecasting, budget management, and performance metrics reporting.
• Proficiency in scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and cost management software.
• Familiarity with financial reporting, cost coding, and internal controls in support of federal projects.
• Demonstrated leadership in guiding multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex data into actionable insights.
• Skilled in both technical tools and strategic planning, with deep understanding of engineering and/or construction processes.

Clearance & Citizenship:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Level Q Security Clearance is required.
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to contract requirements.
