Job Description:
Protecting and Enhancing Corporate Image
This role is responsible for implementing communications and public relations programs in assigned regions to safeguard and improve the corporate image with various audiences. The incumbent provides communication support to other areas of the Corporation as well.
Essential Accountabilities:
•Support media relationships in the region, assisting the Director by proactively working with reporters, editors, and other community leaders to enhance corporate image. Serve as backup media contact and corporate spokesperson within the region.
•Support the communications strategy and media considerations for regional plan presidents and senior staff.
•Provide direction to departments producing communications materials for external distribution and review/edit materials for clarity, tone, and opportunities for improvement.
•Monitor and evaluate news articles to inform management about current issues and initiate responses when necessary. Prepare talking points for Customer Service, Marketing, Provider Relations, and other departments to address questions related to news stories or issues affecting the Corporation and its customers.
•Support internal communications programs and materials impacting employees within the specific region. Organize and manage a corporate news gathering network of employees within the Corporation and identify potential news stories for both employee and external dissemination.
•Serve as backup Public Information Officer on the local incident management team in the event of an incident requiring implementation of the Corporate Disaster Response and Recovery Plan.
•Provide support to the Director in researching, writing, and producing reports, presentations, testimony, and other communications materials required by senior management.
•Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and upholding the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.
•Maintain member privacy in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
•Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
•Perform other functions as assigned by management.
Level II Responsibilities (in addition to Level I):
•Develop and maintain strong media relationships, proactively working with reporters, editors, and other community leaders to improve corporate image. Serve as primary media contact and corporate spokesperson within the region.
•Serve as principal advisor on communications strategy and media considerations for regional plan presidents and senior staff.
•Lead internal communications programs and materials impacting employees within the specific region. Organize and manage a corporate news gathering network of employees within the Corporation and identify potential news stories for both employee and external dissemination.
•Serve as the Public Information Officer on the local incident management team in the event of an incident requiring implementation of the Corporate Disaster Response and Recovery Plan.
Minimum Qualifications:
•Eight or more years of experience in communications, news writing, and editing, and/or public relations. A combination of education plus experience will be considered.
•Bachelor's level education in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, or a related discipline. Background in the healthcare industry is a plus.
•Familiarity with the assigned region and its media markets. Ability to work independently and plan multiple communications programs concurrently.
•Demonstrated creative and analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interact with all levels of management, other Plans, and outside professionals.
Level II Qualifications (in addition to Level I):
•Ten or more years of experience in communications, news writing, and editing, and/or public relations. Background in the healthcare industry preferred.
•Community outreach/programming experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to work prolonged periods sitting and/or standing at a workstation and working on a computer.
•Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or trainings as needed.
