technical BA focused on API requirements gathering with Mulesoft experience ideally
10 years of experience can flex to 7 / 8 years of experience
no expectation of conversion as the soonest they could be converting them would be in 2026
has to be in office 4 days a week - there is ZERO flexibility
12-24 months contract
communication skills are important
will do 1-2 rounds of interviews
both (if a 2nd is needed) will be on-site for 30-45 minutes
they will want to know more about specific examples of API requirements gathering projects
need heads down BA who can work with Architects and convert their confluence pages into meaningful technical stories
a Product Owner / Manager is not what they're needing
they will be ruled out
Job Overview
The role will be working closely with Software Engineers, QA Engineers, Product Owners, and Architects to create technical development stories from requirements gathered from internal and external customers, vendors, and cross functional teams across the business to meet strategic goals.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and validate business requirements for API-driven solutions.
Translate business needs into technical specifications for API design, development, and integration.
Conduct gap analysis to identify opportunities for process and system improvements.
Work closely with developers to create API specifications, including endpoints, payloads, authentication, and error handling.
Ensure that APIs adhere to RESTful principles, scalability, and security standards.
Define and document API workflows, data mapping, and user stories.
Collaborate with QA teams to define test cases and ensure APIs meet functional and non-functional requirements.
Required Qualifications
BA / BS in a technical or business discipline (information systems, engineering, computer science, finance, business administration, or accounting)
7 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with at least 2 years focusing on API development or integration projects.
Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with API management platforms like Apigee, MuleSoft, or AWS API Gateway.
Proficient in API concepts, including REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, and GraphQL. Familiarity with API tools such as Postman, Swagger, and API Gateway solutions.
Basic proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and debugging tools.
