The Patient Service Representative is the first point of contact for our patients. As a critical member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring an exceptional patient experience. You will be responsible for performing various duties related to patient reception and registration.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Verify appointment and insurance information; enter data into EMR systems.
- Process new and follow-up patient registrations, gathering necessary demographic, insurance, and payment information.
- Collect copays, manage cash drawers, and track weekly/monthly totals.
- Manage past due payments and verify insurance coverage.
- Remain flexible with work assignments as patient volumes vary and doctor schedules change.
- Liaise between patients and the billing department regarding billing issues.
- Pull patient registrations through the portal.
- Apply knowledge of medical terminology, particularly orthopedic terminology.
- Proficiency in EMR and practice management software.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Associates degree preferred; HS diploma or GED required.
- 2 years of medical office experience, with patient registration experience desired.
- EMR experience required, preferably MEDENT.
