Purpose

  •  Provide comprehensive psychological and educational services to all students from preschool through high school.

Team Structure and Supervision

  • Team of five school psychologists with one also designated as Lead School Psychologist
  • School Psychologists are assigned to certain schools with some schools covered by “staff” with needs being filtered through Lead School Psychologist
  • Funded and supervised primarily through the Exceptional Children’s Department
  • The principal or designated staff input and/or observations for professional evaluations with a summative evaluation completed by EC Administration and/or Lead School Psychologist. Concerns can be addressed directly with the School Psychologist or should be directed to the Lead School Psychologist.

Professional Functions

  • Comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations with the interpretation of results at IEP meetings
  • Participation in MTSS and/or Student Services Teams to assist with the analysis of data, development of support plans, and progress monitoring (academic and/or behavior)
  • Collaboration and consultation with school staff, parents, and community agencies
  • Behavioral support including assistance with the development and implementation of FBA/BIPs
  • Direct services to students through individual/group counseling, academic consultation, and progress monitoring

Daily Operations and Communications

  • School Psychologists independently develop schedules to have coverage time at each assigned school, unless otherwise determined. This schedule should be shared with Lead School Psychologist, principals, and Exceptional Children’s teachers. May also be shared with additional staff such as Student Services.
  • The weekly schedule is subject to change based on individual school and/or district-wide needs. Significant changes to the schedule should be communicated with principals and designated staff at the schools.
  • Upon receipt of official and signed evaluation referral from EC teacher/case manager, School Psychologists independently schedule and conduct evaluations with a written report provided back to EC teacher/case manager.
  • The school Psychology Team meets once or twice a month for information sharing, individual student staffing, and/or professional development.
  • All School Psychologists can be reached through email or phone at their assigned schools.

  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, etc.  Must be able to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally; and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form.
  • Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.  Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical or professional languages including medical, legal, and counseling terminology.
