1:1 Part-Time Support Staff Needed - Oneida, NY (ST - RM)
A 13-year-old boy who lives in Oneida is looking for a Direct Support Professional to assist him with 6 hours of community habilitation support a week and to take him out into the community. He is fully ambulatory and communicates verbally. He would like to work on improving social behaviors such as using good manners or not approaching/talking to strangers. He would also like to work on expressing his feelings and verbalizing wants and needs.
His interests include going to the park, playing outside and catching bugs, singing or playing dress up with his siblings. His favorite superhero is Spiderman.
The ideal candidate needs to have patience, be reliable, energetic and able to de-escalate situations when needed. The ideal candidate would be comfortable around animals, as there are two dogs at his house.
This is a part-time position, but additional hours are available with other people receiving services at the agency.
Hours and days of work: Weekdays after school, 3:30pm - 6:30pm up to 6 hours per week.
Starting pay: Starting pay is $18.00/hour
Location: Oneida, NY

Background check, fingerprinting and DMV record check will be conducted prior to hire by the non-profit agency.

Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to work independently in the person's home and/or community.
- Reliable with effective communication and organizational skills
- No experience required but experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
- New York State Driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance is required; acceptable driving record required.
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community.
