Job Description

Under designated supervision at a warehouse management system (WMS) distribution center, performs a variety of repetitive warehousing duties in either receiving, storage, order selection or shipping.

Specific instructions are given on how to perform assigned tasks. May use a VDT / pc inquiry screen in performance of work.

Job Qualifications

Completion of high school or the equivalent. Creditable job-related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a 9-months for 9-months basis.

Six months of progressively responsible general experience.

If a sufficient number of qualified candidates do not apply, the minimum qualifications may be lowered without reposting.

SOFA RELATED REQUIREMENTS / ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS : Applications will be accepted from all locally available U.S. citizens who do not have dual Japanese and U.

S. citizenship. U.S. citizens who have either permanent or temporary Japanese residency (i.e. zairyu card holders) will be required to have their Japanese residency status cancelled as a condition of being employed in an Exchange U.

S. payroll position that results in the applicant having SOFA status under Article I.(b) of the U.S. Japan Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA).

With SOFA status the selectee will be exempt from Japanese taxes on income earned from the Exchange, enjoy duty-free purchase privileges at the Exchange and Commissary as well as other benefits arising from having SOFA status.

Having SOFA status, however, also means the selectee will represent the United States in Japan in a quasi-Ambassadorial role.

The selectee will thus need to ensure that they consistently conduct themselves in a manner that does not reflect negatively on the United States, the United States Forces, Japan, or the Exchange.

That in turn means that the selectee will be held accountable for off-base misconduct and in particular off-base criminal misconduct.

The selectee must understand and accept that while the facts of each case that arises will be reviewed individually, off-base criminal misconduct will often result in separation for cause.

Major Duties

Receiving : The work will include the unloading of incoming conveyances, compares freight received to the transportation document / freight bills and identifies damage / shortages and makes sure counts are correct.

Sorts items either at the trailer or inside the receiving area on pallets so that new receipts can be easily counted. Items palletized will be accomplished in accordance with stacking patterns.

May assist in the receipt process to include counting of items, recording of counts on receiving worksheets, affixing labels on pallet to include put away tickets.

Storage : The work will include the checking and verification of items prior to leaving the receiving area through a control point to ensure merchandise movement is accurate.

Will include the physical handling of items on pallets in either consolidating of putaway or at time of replenishment.

Order selection : the work will include stockpicking, item putaway and replenishment. Items will be placed on conveyors or handled manually on pallets for movements case labels.

Shipping : The work will include the loading of trailers from either pallets or conveyors. May move merchandise from location to location by hand, pallet jack, or similar manual equipment, and on occasion, a forklift or other materials handling equipment (MHE).

May use the VDT for obtaining inquiry information or performing a very specific work task. Participates in the taking of periodic and special inventories.

Complies with established safety, security, and fire prevention procedures and directives. Actively communicates / promotes the benefits of the Military Star credit card to customers in order to drive sales growth and increase customer loyalty.

Performs other duties as assigned.
