Principal Cost/Price Estimator - Aerospace
Our client a well-respected aerospace company in Suffolk County is seeking a Principal Cost/Price Estimator. They are offering a highly competitive salary and great benefits ($90,000-$120,000). This is a critical role within their Contracts/Pricing department, responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing complex cost and price models for aerospace products and services. This position requires a highly analytical individual with deep experience in cost estimating, pricing strategy, and contract review. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter experienced collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. This role involves a significant focus (75-80%) on detailed pricing model development and maintenance, with the remaining time (20-25%) dedicated to contract review, compliance, and team management.
Responsibilities:
- Cost/Price Model Development & Maintenance (75-80%):
- Develop and maintain sophisticated cost and price models using various estimating techniques (e.g., parametric, analogous, bottom-up) to accurately capture all cost elements (labor, materials, overhead, etc.) for complex aerospace projects.
- Analyze historical cost data, market trends, and technical specifications to ensure model accuracy and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and other departments to gather necessary data inputs for cost estimation.
- Regularly update and refine cost models to reflect changes in market conditions, material costs, labor rates, and manufacturing processes.
- Conduct sensitivity analyses and risk assessments to identify potential cost variances and develop mitigation strategies.
- Prepare detailed cost and price proposals for submission to customers, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g., FAR, DFARS).
- Support negotiation efforts with customers by providing clear and concise explanations of cost and pricing methodologies.
- Develop and maintain documentation for all cost models, including assumptions, methodologies, and data sources.
- Contract Review & Compliance (20-25%):
- Review and analyze contracts, Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), and other legal documents to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities within contracts and provide recommendations to management.
- Support internal audits and reviews of contract performance.
- Maintain accurate records of contracts and related documentation.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cost estimating and pricing within the aerospace industry.
- Understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and technologies.
- Extensive experience in developing and implementing complex cost and price models.
- Strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and other relevant government regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in contract review and negotiation.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
