Purpose Of This Position
This position is responsible for managing safety and environmental programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a culture of safety. Key duties include safety policy development, training, incident investigations, emergency preparedness, PPE management, and overseeing environmental compliance and waste handling. The role also involves managing contractor safety and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Be Doing.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and company standards.
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments to maintain a safe work environment.
Lead investigations of workplace incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Provide safety training and education to employees, including onboarding and refresher courses.
Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations and maintain required records.
Oversee emergency preparedness, including the development of response plans and conducting drills.
Manage the proper use and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) across the facility.
Lead the transition from 5S to 6S by incorporating safety, training employees, and reporting progress to the parent company.
Oversee waste management to ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of materials, maintaining environmental compliance.
Manage contractor safety and compliance, including the transition to the new Sine platform for visitor and contractor management.
What You’ll Need to Succeed as An Environmental & Safety Supervisor
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Science field or equivalent work experience.
Able to lift 40 pounds.
Manufacturing experience with the ability to interpret and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA GHS and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
Meticulous attention to detail, with excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
Experience with hazardous waste management, spill remediation, and federal/state regulatory reporting requirements.
Maintain a positive, professional working relationship with all internal and external customers.
Accurately maintain company records and documents in accordance with policies and procedures.
Identify and provide training to department staff and support personnel.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and internet research, with strong PC skills.
