What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employee Health Safety Coordinator position at Environmental Management Solutions?
Summary:
This position has overall responsibility for managing Environmental, Health, & Safety (EH&S) activities to achieve excellence. This person works with site teams and stakeholders to develop the strategy and plans to achieve sustainable excellence by reducing injuries, illnesses and environmental impact. Where geographical proximity, size, and complexity permit, this role may cover more than one location.
Duties To Be Performed:
- Develop a thorough understanding of the EH&S program and support its deployment
- Deploy the site EH&S strategy, policy and standards to achieve excellent sustainable results
- Develop and drive the teams responsible to deliver Environmental, Health and Safety results
- Reduce the site’s environmental impact in the areas of hazardous, non-hazardous waste, air emissions and water & energy consumption
- Influence senior management and drive safety and environmental leadership through line management
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local/national regulatory requirements
- Work closely with site management to identify and mitigate risks which may lead to occupational ill health
- Lead inspections with local/state regulators.
- Conduct trend analysis from compliance audits
- Develop and deploy internal EH&S auditing and inspection systems, and participate in audits of other company partners as required
- Determine training needs and assist in delivery of training programs, and
- Performs other EHS related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of the ISO 14001 and 45001 EHS Management Standards
- Knowledge of and ability to apply EHS policies and procedures
- Knowledge of and ability to apply principles of sound management and budget
Ability to perform, analyze, and track data for the purpose of making operational adjustments- Proven track record of analytical thinking and project management
- Ability to deal effectively with people at all levels
- Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and drawings pertaining to plant expansions and improvements, and
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in the English language.
Required Training and Experience:
This position requires at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Environmental, Health, and Safety. Other combinations of experience and education, which provide the knowledge and skills required to perform the job, may be considered.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- An understanding of fundamental computer skills
- Previous experience using Microsoft Office for communications and reporting
Additional Requirements
Employment is subject to verification of pre-employment drug-screening results and a background investigation. Additionally, as per job/site requirements, local travel likely if covering more than one site.
