Job Title: Part-Time Digital Literacy Instructor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Northstar Digital Literacy Instructor to support adult learners in building critical digital literacy skills aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) and Adult Education (AE) Competencies. This is a part-time position with flexible hours designed to provide instruction tailored to adult learners. The instructor will design, deliver, and evaluate engaging lessons to help learners achieve digital literacy goals for workforce readiness and personal success. This position does not include benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Instructional Design & Delivery:

   • Plan, prepare, and facilitate lessons based on Northstar Digital Literacy modules (e.g., Basic Computer Skills, Internet Basics, Email, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, etc.) aligned with CCRS.

   • Integrate Adult Education Competencies, emphasizing critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical application in real-life scenarios.

   • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities, including English language learners (ELLs) and adults with varying levels of digital literacy.

2. Assessment & Evaluation:

   • Conduct initial learner assessments using the Northstar Digital Literacy platform to identify skill gaps and develop individualized learning plans.

   • Administer Northstar assessments to measure progress and provide digital literacy certifications where applicable.

   • Use formative and summative assessment data to refine instruction and ensure alignment with CCRS standards and workforce readiness goals.

3. Technology Integration:

   • Embed relevant CCRS-aligned skills such as digital communication, media literacy, and critical evaluation of online information.

   • Introduce learners to tools and platforms that support educational and career advancement, such as online job applications, virtual communication tools, and digital financial literacy resources.

4. Learner Support:

   • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages learner engagement and persistence.

   • Provide one-on-one coaching and support to help learners overcome barriers to digital literacy, such as limited prior experience or access to technology.

5. Program Administration:

   • Maintain accurate records of learner progress, certifications, and attendance.

   • Prepare reports and contribute to program evaluation efforts.

   • Assist in outreach and recruitment efforts to promote digital literacy programs within the community.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

• Experience teaching adult learners in digital literacy, basic education, or related fields.

• Familiarity with the Northstar Digital Literacy platform and CCRS standards for Adult Education.

• Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and other relevant tools.

• Knowledge of Adult Education Competencies and best practices for working with diverse adult learner populations.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience integrating digital literacy into workforce development or career pathways programs.

• TESOL or equivalent certification for working with English language learners (ELLs).

• Experience using data-driven approaches to instruction and program improvement.

Work Environment:

• Flexible schedule with opportunities for daytime and evening classes.

• Potential for hybrid instruction (in-person and online).

Compensation:
This is a part-time position with an hourly rate commensurate with experience and qualifications. No benefits are provided.
